Car of the Week: 2012 Nissan GTR

This week is one of my favorite cars of all time... the 2012 Nissan GTR! It may not be the classiest vehicle, but it's surely one of the fastest. Because of its balanced weight distribution and all-wheel drive system, its acceleration from zero to 60 is a little less than 3 seconds, which is right next to that of the Bugatti Veyon and Porsche Turbo. Under the hood is a 3.8L twin-turbocharged V6 engine that allows the lucky driver to harness 530 horsepower and 448 pounds of torque. The numbers may not seem impressive compared to other super and hyper cars, but the Nissan can sure put down the power to the wheels where it matters.

Not only is it a track beast, but it has some luxurious features as well. The base model 2012 Nissan GTR includes 20-inch alloy wheels with high-performance tires, automatic xenon headlights, LED running lights right below the headlamps, Brembo brakes, an electronically adjustable suspension, leather/faux-suede upholstery, heated power-adjustable front seats, keyless ignition/entry, dual-zone automatic climate control and an 11-speaker Bose CD/MP3 audio system with two subwoofers, satellite radio, iPod connectivity and Bluetooth phone and streaming audio. Also standard is a multifunction driver-configurable information monitor and a hard-drive-based navigation system with 9.4 gigabytes available for audio storage, real-time traffic and weather.

2012 Black Edition GT-R

The special 2012 GTR Black Edition option adds lightweight black wheels, a black and red interior and leather Recaro racing seats. Options are few and include a no-cost Cold Weather package (darker wheels, Dunlop all-season run-flat tires and a unique coolant-to-water ratio for faster engine warmup), a rearview camera and an extra-cost "Super Silver" paint job that has been given three layers of clear coat and then polished by hand.
