Car of the Week: 2013 BMW M5

For the first Car of the Week, I've decided to choose my all-time favorite Bimmer as the winning candidate. BMW first started creating the F10 M5 with its updated biturbo V8 engine in 2011. Naturally aspirated engines are gradually losing their admiration, and engines with huge turbines in them are the new hype. Previously, the E60 (2005-2010) M5 had a naturally aspirated V10 engine that was rated at 500-hp and around 380 pounds of torque. Now with the turbocharged 4.4L V8 engine, it can push out a brag-worthy 560-hp and 502 pounds of torque.

The BMW M5 is definitely a big step-up from the M3, considering it costs $92,000 for the base model, which is $32k more than the M3. Also, the M5 is produced as a sedan, while the M3 can be both a four-door and a two-door coupe. Additionally, the M5 has a 140-hp advantage over the M3, which makes a noticeable difference in performance.

Not only does it offer exceptional acceleration and a comfortable interior, it also has four doors. A family sedan that can accelerate zero to 60 in 3.7 seconds is quite impressive. The fuel economy is quite reasonable as well, averaging 17 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. Without the governer limiting the top speed to 155 mph, the saloon can handle speeds of 190 mph.

Generally, I am not a big fan of BMW's due to their lack of power and high price compared to its competitors, but the BMW M5 is definitely worth commending.
